Buzzy survey reveals how often couples are really having sex across the UK
A new UK-wide survey by adult toy retailer Buzzy.co.uk has revealed how often couples say they are having sex, based on responses from its customer database.
Consenting participants were asked a single question: on average, how many times do you and your partner have sex each month? While the findings show only modest variation between regions, the data offers a rare insight into real-life bedroom habits across the UK.
England’s top 10 cities for sexual frequency
Based on responses from Buzzy customers, the most sexually active cities in England are:
-
London – 7.4 times per month
-
Manchester – 7.1 times
-
Liverpool – 7.0 times
-
Birmingham – 7.0 times
-
Leeds – 6.9 times
-
Sheffield – 6.9 times
-
Bristol – 6.8 times
-
Nottingham – 6.7 times
-
Brighton – 6.6 times
-
Reading – 6.5 times
Scotland’s most active cities
-
Glasgow – 6.8 times per month
-

Top cities in Wales
-
Cardiff – 6.0 times per month
-
Swansea – 5.8 times

-
Belfast – 6.4 times per month

Across the UK, most couples reported having sex between six and seven times per month, regardless of location. Wales showed a slightly lower average, though the difference was smaller than many stereotypes suggest.
Jessica Alderson, sex and relationship expert from dating tool So Syncd, speaking on behalf of Buzzy.co.uk said:
“The differences between regions in how often couples have sex are fairly small. This makes sense as sexual activity is influenced far more by self-esteem and relationship dynamics than by geography.”
“That said, London’s higher average likely reflects a more open attitude towards sex, novelty and self-expression. It’s worth noting that this data comes from an audience that is more engaged around sex so the results likely skew higher than national averages. Ultimately, quality is just as important as quantity, if not more, and what matters most is that it works for you as a couple.”
Buzzy was launched to challenge tired adult retail design and outdated attitudes, taking a modern and inclusive approach where pleasure is normal, open, and for everyone.
